Since last year’s announcement Recarta has assisted numerous clients with their IBM OS upgrades as they aim to stay supported and avoid unnecessary extended support charges.
However – for many businesses it is not that straight forward and bespoke applications or industry compliance can make the process more difficult and harder to achieve in the timescales laid down, whilst also struggling with limited downtime and internal resources.
IBM announced back last year that they are no longer supporting the IBM i 6.1 & 6.1.1 Operating Systems from the 30th September 2015.
So, in the short term a Service Extension can provide up to three years additional support but remember, to order this, you will need a valid IBM Software Maintenance contract in place.
For those customers still using V5R4 i5/OS you can continue to take out the IBM Extended Support to receive continued access to IBM technical support as long as you have your IBM Software Maintenance in place. We are offering special upgrade packages for those of you seeking to upgrade to 6.1 or 7.1. Remember that this Service Extension was originally set out for three years from 30th September 2013 – so 12 months and counting!!
