IBM have recently announced that they will be no longer supporting the IBM i 5.4 Operating System from September 2013. Those customers that are using this version of operating systems software have some time to make changes to their IT environments.
If customers are unable to upgrade to the latest version then the option to take extended support for IBM i 5.4 will be available, but be aware this will not be cheap. In my experience I have seen prices for Extended Support three times the value of Software Maintenance!! If you act sooner rather than later you can be ready for this change and avoid unecessary additional support costs.
