The IBM Storwize V7000 has some exciting new enhancements that were announced last month. IBM have increased the size of their hard drive capacity within the IBM Storwize V7000 so that you can now fit up to 1.92 Petabytes of data. On the 2.5″ they have released a 1.2TB 10K SAS option and for archiving and other slower requirements they have released a mahoosive 3.5″ 4TB 7.2K NL SAS.
It’s been about time since IBM have included this great new feature; they have combined Real-time Compression with Easy Tier, thus enabling higher performance and efficiency. IBM have enhanced the scale at which we can now deploy the Storwize V7000 to allow much larger configurations. This means that we can offer far more hosts which in turn means more virtual machines and getting the best utilisation from your investment.
Last but not least, IBM have brought out their latest firmware in the shape of V7.1. Any existing IBM Storwize V7000 customers with valid SWMA can download this update at no additional cost.
