End of Support for Oracle 11g

From the 31st December 2020 Oracle are stopping extended support on 11g database. This could have a huge impact on your business if you’re running 11g, as you’ll no longer be supported. This carries a significant risk to your business continuity and performance, should you encounter a significant database incident.

Therefore, you have to make a decision on what action to take. We have highlighted the choices below, and as Oracle Database experts, Recarta can help you make an informed decision.

What should I do?

The first option you could take is upgrading your database to Oracle 12c or above. These newer versions are supported until 2031, they are also packed with advanced features providing enhanced performance and security.

Another way forward is to migrate to Oracle Cloud. Migrating to Cloud isn’t as scary as it sounds, and there are multiple benefits of doing so, such as security, simplification and cost.

Alternatively, Recarta can support your 11g database. It’s at the core of our business to proactively monitor & patch databases. Our team of award-winning certified DBAs have supported 11g since release, so you know you’ll be in safe hands. This option means that you won’t carry the expense of having to upgrade, and you’ll have peace of mind with 24x7x365 support.

We can only advice you to take action, but technically you don’t have to do anything at all. However, not doing anything will risk your businesses security as you will be left with no support, monitoring and patching.
