Recarta Sales Director, Toby Harris, is looking to raise £800 by climbing Ben Nevis. Toby picks up the story.
We are four Parents of kids at the Basingstoke Bison Junior Ice Hockey Club and following the sad passing of one of the teams Parents last year, we having been looking for an event to thank the Hospice for the excellent support given to the family during that sad time.
The Ben Nevis Challenge is basically way beyond our capabilities, but, hey, who’ve got to push yourself haven’t you? The Challenge starts with an ascent to the summit of Ben Nevis, all 4300ft of it and back. Once we’ve reached the bottom as a team (hopefully before the end of June), we cycle 12 miles to the fantastically named Loch Lochy, where we will Kayak around the lake before cycling back to the base of Ben Nevis. We hope to complete the challenge within 9 hours, but the main aim is to start as a team and finish as team and still be able to consider each other mates at the end. 🙂
St Michaels Hospice do fantastic, challenging work with families going through the worst possible times and anything, however small, that we can do to support them is the least we can do.
